Plumbing calls tend to arrive in two forms. One is sudden, a toilet that won't clear or a sink backing up while the whole household waits on it. The other is planned, a building going up or being reworked that needs its pipes and drainage set out properly from the start. I take on both kinds under the name Felix Plumbing Works, covering Kisumu town and the areas spreading out from it. The work runs across four areas. I clear blocked toilets, sinks and drains, lay full piping and drainage installations, and fit plumbing appliances so they connect cleanly and drain the way they should. Alongside that, I supply plumbing materials, so the pipes and fittings a job needs don't have to be chased down separately before anyone can start. That covers homes and rental properties around Milimani, Nyalenda, Manyatta, Kondele and Mamboleo, and I work out towards Otonglo, Kisian and Ahero as well.
Handling the materials and the installation together keeps a job from stalling. When the fittings arrive with me, there's no waiting period between working out what's wrong and putting it right, and no half finished bathroom sitting open while a part is tracked down somewhere in town. It also means the materials going into a wall or under a floor are chosen against the job in front of me rather than whatever a client happened to be sold. Blockages and new installations ask for different habits. Clearing a drain properly means finding where the line is actually obstructed instead of forcing it and hoping, because a blockage that gets pushed along rather than removed tends to come back. Installation work moves slower by nature, since pipework that ends up buried behind plaster or under a slab has to be right before it's covered. I'd rather spend the extra time getting falls and joints correct than open up finished work later. The same standard applies to a single blocked sink and to the drainage for a whole new build.
